Chart-first

WideRadar for chart-first traders

By WideRadar · Published August 17, 2026

If the chart is where you decide, it has to feel like a workstation, not a demo and not a social feed. You switch tickers all morning. You want the last price and the candle tip now, studies that do not freeze the pane, and enough context — leadership, earnings, a verdict — that you are not bouncing between five sites. WideRadar’s Charting tab is built as that desk.

Charts are the product, not chrome

Leaders and breadth exist to feed the chart: better names in, better tape read before you size. They are not a substitute for a fast, clean pane. If the candles lag, the rest of the loop does not matter.

What chart-first actually means here

It does not mean “indicators everywhere.” It means the pane is where the decision happens, and everything else is in service of that decision. Relative-strength lists tell you which symbol to open. The data panel tells you whether earnings quality agrees. Breadth tells you whether to size large, small, or not at all. You still live on the candles.

It also means we are not building a social charting network. No public idea stream, no copy-trading overlay, no marketplace of other people’s layouts as the main event. Your watchlists, your screens, your read.

What stays fast (on purpose)

The live OHLC tip and new-bar append stay on the main thread so the candle never waits on indicator math. Full study recomputes run off the UI thread and only when structure changes — symbol, timeframe, settings, or a large history reload — not on every tick. Cache-first ticker switches are the goal: the next name should feel warm, not like a spinner.

What sits around the candles

Watchlists and built-in screens

Keep the names you actually trade. Then use product screens when you need a fresh pond: RS Leaders (top-scoring names in 50-day > 200-day uptrends), Tight Setups (compression after a trend — classic pre-breakout behaviour), today’s gainers, and themed presets. Click is the whole workflow. You should not export a CSV to another charting site.

Verdict and Leadership Score

The buy / partial / hold / sell verdict combines trend regime (50-day versus 200-day), RSI, ATR extension, and volume. Buy means a strong trend above both averages; Partial means some conditions only — a starter or a wait; Hold means the trend is intact with no exit signal; Sell means structure is broken. Read it as a checklist. The Leadership Score on the same pane is the same 0–100 you saw on Leaders — RS versus SPY, trend quality, volume — so you are not translating dialects.

Data panel and indicators

EPS, sales, and margins sit beside price so you do not “finish the chart” and then remember fundamentals later. Overlay the studies you actually use; the indicator encyclopedia under Learn documents what is on the desk. The point is one pane, not a second research tab in another browser.

A chart-first morning

  1. Warm the list. Open Charting on yesterday’s watchlist or RS Leaders. Hover a few names so the next click is already warm.
  2. One name at a time. Trend, volume, RS line if you use it, verdict as a prompt. Then the data panel — do the numbers agree?
  3. Tight setups when you are hunting entries. Compression after strength beats chasing the extended candle.
  4. Breadth only when you are about to size. You do not need the heatmap to draw a trendline. You do need it before you put size on a breakout.

Frequently asked questions

What does the buy / sell / partial / hold verdict mean?

It is a rules-based checklist from trend (50-day vs 200-day), RSI, ATR extension, and volume. Buy = strong trend above both averages; Partial = some conditions met; Hold = trend intact, no exit signal; Sell = structure broken. It prompts your thinking. It is not a signal to follow blindly.

Will the chart freeze when I add indicators?

Heavy study math is designed to stay off the UI thread. The live candle tip should keep updating. Full recomputes run when you change symbol, timeframe, or settings — not on every tick. If a pane ever feels stuck, that is a bug against the performance bar, not the intended feel.

Can I still use Leaders and Breadth if I live on the chart?

Yes. That is the loop. Leaders tells you which symbol to open; Breadth tells you whether to size. Both are one click from Charting. You do not leave the workstation to “do research.”

Is this a candlestick tutorial?

No. This page is how the workstation fits a chart-first growth trader. For candle anatomy and beginner chart reading, use the Learn / blog guide on how to read a stock chart, then come back to the pane.
